NMG staff took to the streets to join Verizon informational picketing in support of both a fair contract and a co-worker fired for her union efforts.
Guild administrator Kevin Keane was joined by staffers Ed Zeltser and Elaine King in an informational picket Thursday near the World Trade Center. They picketed while Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam spoke to a crowd of 1 percenters at Goldman Sachs’ Communicopia Conference near in New York City.
NMG staff joins Verizon informational picketing
While CEO McAdam enjoys an annual salary of $18 million a year, 39,000 Verizon landline employees have been working without a contract since Aug. 1. And despite $1 billion a month in profits, the company refuses to offer any raises, benefits or improvements to working conditions for the Verizon Wireless workers who are bargaining their first contract alongside their landline brothers and sisters.
Last week, the company fired Verizon Wireless worker Bianca Cunningham for her union activity.
