Guild bargaining survey shows most want to keep health insurance as is

The Guild bargaining survey shows most respondents want to keep health insurance as is as bargaining begins for a new contract with The Associated Press.

The News Media Guild sent surveys to all members, and about 200 responded. Of those, 121 want to keep the plan as it is, while 45 said they support better benefits even at a higher cost. Twenty-eight respondents said they want to pay lower premiums even if that means lesser benefits.

Bargaining with The AP begins Tuesday. Bargainers are Jill Bleed of Little Rock, Arkansas; Vin Cheroo of New York sports; and David Herron of Seattle and Ed Morsett of Denver, who will share duties as the technology unit representative.

The Guild will provide more details from the survey shortly.
