Indianapolis bureau welcomes APME with cutouts to represent unfilled positions

UPDATE:

Five top editors stopped by the Indianapolis bureau from Sunday through Tuesday on their way to the Associated Press Media Editors conference being held in town. None said a word about the Guild’s display.

The editors included AP Senior Vice President and Executive Editor Kathleen Carroll and Vice President and Senior Managing Editor Mike Oreskes. Some Central Desk editors who stayed to work in the bureau, including David Scott, tried to find locations that didn’t disrupt the display.

None seemed surprised and no one stopped to read the sign. They clearly knew about the display in advance, likely from our social media and website postings, and discussed how to react beforehand.

Guild-covered staffers in Indianapolis, including Tom Murphy, prepared this greeting Sunday for AP members visiting the bureau ahead of the APME 80th annual conference, being held nearby Monday through Wednesday. #fairAPcontract
