NEW YORK — The News Media Guild discussed its Leaves of Absence and Health and Safety proposals with Associated Press on Wednesday, but no agreements were reached.

The Guild is proposing that AP adopt many of the recommendations of a landmark injury study of AP photographers and videographers recently completed by top experts at New York University.

Negotiations will resume in early February, after The Newspaper Guild’s annual Sector Conference, where negotiators will consult with top officials of TNG and its parent union, the Communications Workers of America. The pause in talks was previously scheduled with the company.

“There has been some progress in discussions, but AP and the Guild remain far apart on many key issues,” said Martha Waggoner, chair of NMG’s bargaining committee.

Representing the Guild were Waggoner, Tony Winton, John Braunreiter, Vin Cherwoo, Don Ryan, and Kevin Keane.

Representing AP were Michelle Ehrlich, Sue Gilkey, Carole Feldman, Alison Quan, and Hilda Auguste.
