Guild Sets Regional Meetings

Every bargaining year, the News Media Guild holds regional bargaining meetings to prepare for contract talks. The Guild’s contract with the Associated Press expires on Nov. 30, 2010.

These meetings are vitally important in developing our bargaining priorities and in finding ways to make them a reality. It’s a time to share experiences, problems and solutions. Previous meeting participants have reported the sessions to be very useful and energizing, so don’t miss out!

Every bureau or state should send a delegate to the meeting. The Guild will reimburse staffers for travel, meals and lodging expenses.

Staffers flying in will arrive on Friday evening and leave Sunday afternoon.

There will be two weekend meetings — which are open to staffers in those cities as well:

Los Angeles, May 14-16
Washington, D.C., May 21-23.

One delegate is invited from each state or region below unless indicated otherwise. Locations with regional hubs should try to select a delegate from the hub operation as well as a delegate representing non-hub staffers to attend the meetings (which are technically referred to as “Sectional Conferences” under our by-laws).
