Guild announces scholarship winners

The News Media Guild is pleased to announce this year’s winners of the Patrick Sherlock Scholarship awards.

The winners of the two $2,000 scholarships are Drew Carpenter, son of Chicago newsman Dave Carpenter, and Anne Marie Sheeran Hawe, daughter of Cleveland newsman Tom Sheeran.

Zachary Fisher, son-in-law of newsman Washington newsman Dennis Conrad, won the wild card scholarship for $1,000.

The News Media Guild awards two $2,000 scholarships and one $1,000 wild card scholarship annually. Guild members may nominate any Guild member or his/her spouse or partner, children, parents, grandparent or grandchild, or other member of the nominating Guild member’s immediate household.  In the event of a change in status, the relationship at the time of the drawing prevails.

The wild card scholarship allows a member to apply for a relative, a friend or a co-worker.

Drew is attending Northern Michigan University for computer information studies. Anne Marie Sheeran Hawe is studying nursing at Salem State University in Massachusetts.

Zachary Fisher is attending Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina for a health management program.

Congratulation to the winners!
